Guest Author Day with Gracen Miller & A CONTEST!

CONTEST: Comment to win a copy of Elfin Blood. Ends Friday 12/18/09.

Hello all! I’m excited to be here and want to give a huge thanks to Dawn for having me! My book, Elfin Blood, was recently released by Noble Romance Publishing. Be sure to read my post and leave me a comment for a chance to win an e-copy of Elfin Blood.

During this busy time of year, I wanted to talk about something fun so we could take our mind off our hectic schedules. So, I decided on “Guilty Pleasures”. We all have them, some more risqué than others, some more fun than others, some we indulge in more than others, but one thing remains constant…they’re still guilty pleasures.

Here’s a countdown of my ten guilty pleasures:

10. Eating an entire box of chocolate glazed Krispy Kreme donuts. The thought is orgasmic! If only I wouldn’t gain an ounce. Unfortunately, I gain at least five pounds when I drive by Krispy Kreme and sniff the air. It’s soooooo unfair.

9. Silky/lacy undergarments. I’m a sucker for pretty panties and bras. Good thing my husband enjoys them too. :D

8. Starbucks Iced Mocha. Not decaf, not non-fat, but the real deal! I want all the sugar, carbs and fat! Mmmm….mmmm….lip-smacking good! Some sins are worth gaining a pound or two over.

7. Papa Roach’s song I Almost Told You That I Loved You. *hangs head in shame* I admit the first time I heard it on the Octane channel I laughed over the obscene lyrics. It’s not an appropriate song for my children, but I love this song and all its rude crudeness! If you’re not familiar with it and wish to be daring, here’s a YouTube link to it: I Almost Told You That I Loved You by PapaRoach (Warning: Explicit)

6. Buying something I don’t need, like a new garment, or make up, or new nail polish. *big grin* I have probably 100 bottles of nail polish and after I wear a color a handful of times, I get bored with it. My newest nail color is blue! I love it, but my husband abhors it. He wasn’t too fond of the black polish I applied to my toenails either. LOL

5. Singing at the top of my lungs to my Bon Jovi CD! Oh, Lord, Jon Bon Jovi is sooooo freaking hot! *cheeky grin* That man has made my heart go pitter-patter since high school with his voice, wild 80’s hair and that sexy smile that can induce guilty pleasure fantasies. *sighs dreamily* And like fine wine, Jon Bon Jovi has aged to be as potent and as intoxicating as aged wine, yummier than in his youth.

4. When karma becomes a bitch for someone who deserves it. I guess that makes me mean or spiteful. But some people just deserve to be bitch-slapped with karma. And this was most likely nothing I should have confessed because karma will probably bite me in the ass now. :-/

3. Watching Nip/Tuck and Sons of Anarchy with my husband. *face burns red*

2. Lusting after Dean Winchester…er…okay, his real name is Jensen Ackles, but, oh, my…*fans self* his character, Dean Winchester is such a hottie. Dean is a character on the television show Supernatural and while he’s a bad boy demon-hunter, I’m convinced he’s a closet romantic too. I'm almost certain Santa wants me to have Dean Winchester for being such a good little girl this year. ;-) Hey, it's my fantasy, don't ruin it! :D

1. You may think my number one guilty pleasure is reading or writing a book that turns me on, but no. Nothing about that makes me feel “guilty”, a pleasure, yes, but definitely not guilty. Or you might even guess doing something naughty with my husband when we could be exposed, but again, no, that’s erotic pleasures, not guilty pleasures. ;-) My number one guilty pleasure is rather boring actually and I really wish I could give you something more evocative and decadent. But, being lazy when my kids are at Grandma’s and I have a million things to do, that’s my biggest guilty pleasure. Ah…the joy in doing nothing when I normally spend my days cooking, cleaning, clothes washing, running errands, taxiing my boys between events and working…ah, the pleasure in doing nothing. Absolutely nothing! Pure bliss! It happens so seldom that I feel guilty for having the pleasure. Strange, huh?

Now, don’t be shy, we all have them, and it's your turn to confess all your secrets…ahem…I mean guilty pleasures. ;-) Maybe you’ll imbibed in guilty pleasures at a party this year (licentious or not) or already have in years past. If so, we all want to live vicariously through you, so please share! *rubs hands together in anticipation* I’ll give you one entry for each guilty pleasure you confess, so, for example, if you give me five guilty pleasures, you’re name will be entered five times for a chance to win a copy of Elfin Blood. I’ll draw a winner on Friday, December 18th, so be sure to leave your e-mail address along with your confession! Best of luck to anyone that enters!

Scorned by her own kind for her half-breed elf status, Julija lives a lonely existence among her Ivory Elf kin. She is the only one the elves can trust when a magical book in elf lore is stolen. Relegated to steal the Book from the vampire thief, Landau Jamieson, she's surprised to discover he has the ability to walk in daylight. Refusing to be deterred by developing setbacks, she’s committed to executing the heist for an Ivory King who grows more desperate to possess the Book. Nothing about the vampire is as it appears and Julija begins to doubt her mission. Worse, she begins to worry she won't have the strength to guard her heart from her sworn enemy.

Landau is fascinated by the elf stalking him and baffled by the potent hunger she elicits after ten thousand years of celibacy. Soon he discovers the lovely sprite is a pawn in a dangerous game--orchestrated by none other than a reviled enemy from his past. While blind-sided by her beauty and her magical powers, the least of which is the spell she casts on his heart, the sinister plot unfolds. What started out as folly to catch a thief, blossoms into a love that casts aside bloodlines and forges all boundaries.

Elfin Blood Excerpt:

Their eyes held as he tossed her denims over his shoulders. He buried his hand in her hair, kneading her scalp with his fingers.

“This.” His palm flattened over her bare pussy and she flinched at the jolt of heat shooting through her. “Is beautiful.”

He tugged against her hair, holding her steady as he leaned over her and put his mouth to her breasts through the thin fabric. The scrape of his teeth against the cloth caused her to whimper and arch beneath him.

“Can you tone it down a bit,” he asked, grazing his fangs along the underside of her breast.

“Tone what down?”

“The music.” He rose to his knees, his features pinched.

“I’m not making that music.” Julija was too busy trying to catch her breath to worry about the melody. The pads of his fingers rolled her nipples through the fabric while the palm of his other hand rubbed the outer folds of her sex. She squirmed, itching to press her thighs together to alleviate her escalating arousal.

“Of course you are. You’re a Jewel Master. They’re singing your lust.”

Julija touched him for the first time, tracing his wide, sexy lips with her finger—lips she’d fantasized about.

"I’m not a Jewel Master,” she said, baffled by his statement. She traced the point of a protruding fang. “Ow!” she cried, jerking her finger back to peer at the blood beading the pad of her index finger.

Quick as a snake striking, he reached out and placed her finger against the center of his lips. Mired between fascination and horror, she watched as he used her blood to paint his mouth red. Landau licked his lips. The pleasure flaring across his face nearly brought her to orgasm. Again, he painted his lips with her blood, his eyes rolling with delight when he swiped the moisture away.

Landau dragged his tongue over her finger, cleansing the blood from her flesh. He squeezed and blood beaded to the surface. Again, he licked the digit like it was his personal lollipop. She gyrated beneath him, undulated her hips into his thigh. Had she missed the anatomy lesson that said fingers were erogenous zones?

He sucked her finger into his mouth, his gaze holding hers steady as he sipped nourishment from the tiny wound. A moan tore from her. He suckled again, a hard drag that tweaked her clitoris.

“Mmm.” She moaned, arching her back, needing him inside her.

A grin skirted his lips as her vampire suckled. She cried out as an orgasm jerked through her, surprising and embarrassing her.

Landau chuckled. “You’re easy, Jewel Master.”

Easy, yes. Sex-starved too.

“I don’t know what that is.” Her ragged breath hitched as she tried to orient herself and follow the conversation.

"How can you not?” His brows met his hairline, showing his surprise. “Jewel Masters are rare, but still . . . .” He eyed her speculatively. “You’re joking, right?”

Julija didn’t think she could muster a verbal response so she shook her head.

“I’ll show you,” he said, his gaze determined. He looked at the jewels surrounding them on the bed, his fingers skimming through them until he located a diamond at least ten carats in size. He pressed the flat side against a nipple. “Can you feel it vibrating?”

“Yes.” She strangled on the word. The vibration against her nipple was connected to her vagina.

“Only a Jewel Master can make it do that.” Landau trailed the diamond to the other breast and smiled at her moan of pleasure. “I’m not a Jewel Master,” he said. “Wood Elves create Jewel Masters.” He clarified the last sentence with, “I don’t have Wood Elf in me. You do.”

Mischief darkened his gaze as he dragged the vibrating diamond down her belly, circled her navel and then slid it downward to the flesh at the apex of her thighs.

As if entranced, Landau spread her vaginal lips and pressed the gem against her clitoris. The diamond acted like a tiny, wicked vibrator.

Five seconds. She panted. Ten seconds. She panted faster. Fifteen sec— She climaxed a second time. The diamond launched into hyper-vibration drive, the harmony wobbled her eardrums, the melody so loud, Landau flinched.

He slid the rock lower, soaking the crystal with her wetness. He pressed the gemstone against her entrance; the humming diamond grew louder, vibrated rapidly against her swollen flesh.

Grimacing at the decibel level, Landau removed the stone from her body. “Proof,” Landau said, sounding strangled. When she focused on him, his eyes turned blood red and he looked turned-on, like her. “You’re a Jewel Master.”

Hi, Dawn! ~waves~ Thanks for having me!

I haven't yet decided if I'll write any other books set in this world. My editor suggested I should, so I probably eventually will. LOL

Hi, RK! Thanks for dropping by! Whenever you read Elfin Blood, I'd love for you to give me a review. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who enjoys my #1 guilty pleasure! lol

Hi, Sherry! Thanks for sharing your guilty pleasures. I'm guilty of your 1 & 2 as well. I have 7 e-books waiting to be read on my blackberry, as well as at least a dozen paperback books. The only variation I have to #2 is that I stay on the computer when I should be going to bed. lol As for #3, my best friends read my books before I submit them. They're tough critics, so I need their advice.

Thanks for confessing your guilty pleasures! And good luck on winning Elfin Blood!

Hi, Judy! Thanks for the guilty pleasure confessions! :D

It seems we all have the problem of sitting at the computer when we should be in bed or doing other things. At least we're all in great company! lol

I love coffee of any nature. I was out doing last minute Christmas shopping today and I couldn't resist purchasing my guilty pleasure #8, an Iced Mocha from Starbucks. That's after having a HUGE mug of hot coffee first thing this morning. Whew, am I jazzed with caffeine at the moment! lol

Chocolate of any nature should have been on my list as well. Chocolate and peanut butter are two of my favorite foods. I've been known to spoon peanut butter out of the jar and layer it with M&M's. Mmmm...Mmmm...good stuff! lol

Best of luck with the contest!

Dawn, I LOL when you said you were a book whore, but I too am also one. *sigh* I LMAO when you posted your DH's guilty pleasure for you.

Everyone has had such great guilty pleasures!

Gracen Miller said...

Hey, K.T.! *waves* Thanks for dropping by and confessing your guilty pleasures! Yep, we're all definitely in good company with your guilty pleasure #4. lol We all seem to have a problem dragging ourselves away from the internet.

Best of luck in the contest and thanks again for confessing your guilty pleasures! See ya around on the net and thanks for following me on twitter. ;-)

Thanks, Lea Ellen! My mother makes an awesome cheeseball. Now that you've mentioned it, I haven't had one in a while. Do you prefer a particular type of cracker with your cheeseball? I love Club Crackers myself, or even Wheat Thins.

I thought I was the only person that marked my favorite spot in books to read again and again! Great to know there are at least two of us in this club!

Best of luck in the contest and thanks so much for confessing your guilty pleasures.

I've had such a great time reading everyone's guilty pleasures. And it's even fun seeing how many we all share.

Hey Gracen and everyone,

What great guilty pleasures. :) I am giggling here on my end. :-P

I loved them all and hey, I am proud to be a book whore. I am just glad there is no 12 step program to rehabilitate me of it. LOL

Hey Gracen,
How much fun was this? I loved reading about your guilty pleasures and I'm right there with you on the Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Oh my Lord that has to rank right up there in the number one or two spot for me. My number one guilty pleasure is going to the spa when I know I should be spending that money on something more practical. Needless to say it doesn't happen often but when I get the chance...

I also love Dawn's comment about being a book whore. As an author myself I have a particular fondness for book whores! (now don't get your mind going in all kinds of weird directions!)

Happy Holidays All
Kelly

If there was a 12 step program, I'd refuse to enter. Besides, being a book whore is a way of life, not something that needs to be cured. lol I'm a shoe whore and a book whore, I don't need anyone trying to fix that. *threatens those who try with a knuckle sandwich* ;-)

Gracen Miller said...

Hi, Kelly! It's great to see you on the web! You've got awesome guilty pleasures. Just thinking about Krispy Kreme makes my mouth water! Too bad I don't have any right now. lol

I LOL when you said you had a "fondness for book whores". roflmao Too funny! But I understand exactly what you mean.

Best of luck to all the entrants! I'll be drawing the winner sometime later today into tonight.

Gracen Miller said...

I plugged everyone's names into Random.org and allowed it to pick the winner. Each person received an entry for each number of guilty pleasures.

The winner chosen was Lea Ellen! I'll send you an e-mail Lea Ellen to verify I have the correct address! Congratulations and I hope you enjoy Elfin Blood!

Hi Gracen,
Yes, I love Club crackers too. But I also prefer to have a variety of crackers with a cheeseball or even slices of ColbyJack cheese. I like reg. Town House, Ritz & I love the Keeblers Buttercrisp crackers. (Keeblers also has a combo box of 3 kinds that includes one roll of the buttercrisp - I like all 3 kinds in their box, but usually just get the box of Buttercrisp. And Walmart doesn't carry the Keeblers, so don't look there for them - I get mine at a grocery store called Hy-Vee [I don't think they're a national chain]).

I wouldn't want any 12-step program either. lol

{I'm so happy that I won your pdf version of `Elfin Blood'!}
